Im DJ Shami, you can also call me DJ CodeX. What you are about to start reading is, my own story.
When I was at Mahanama College,grade 8 class, one of my friends gave me a software called “Deejay”, which was a sound mixing software. Well guys and girls, that gave birth to DJ Shami!!! That was my 1st step to start a long journey in djing. Honestly I never thought that I would be able to come this far. I did my 1st remix when I was at grade 11. Again I did my 1st dj track production using Acid pro 3.0. Started djing officially soon after my ALs(2005 June). I developed my dj production skills rapidly ,but ALONE. As a result by the end of Jan 2007,I have completed 4 albums, which were marketed and sold out pretty fast during festive seasons. I had my own crew which was named as “Spin Doc Djz”,which no longer exists. I had 2 of my cousins named DJ Sanj (Rumesh Sanjeewa) and DJ DM (Dushantha Mudunkotuwa), in that crew. Those two gave me a major support in my 2nd & 3rd albums. (1st & 4th albums I did my self) By the end of 2007 I stopped marketing my albums due to legal issues. But never stopped the mixing thing. Then on Jan,2008 I produced my 5th album which was a nonstop (80 mins),did not get the chance to market it due to various private reasons.

Talking about party djing phase of my life;
The turning point occurred on Jan,2007. At that day we had a dj party in our University (Moratuwa), which was hosted by me. At that time I was djing with the DJ MixStation™ software. The sound equipment were supplied by a guy called Ranjan (DJ ROCK entertainment , Maharagama). He saw my talents and he invited me to work and train under his supervision. He introduced me to his DENON S 6000 console.
I worked with him for about 6 months. Within that period I developed basic mixing skills with console, then more and more advanced features like scratch.
Some times I have to stop djing for a while due to exams in University. How ever I did both simultaneously. Then I started doing
socials,parties,etc in our uni and so many other places. Weddings,home comings,events,many more. During this period, Priyanka from “Vestax Entertainers, Moratuwa” helped me by providing equipment & advices. My total experience in this field is about 2.5years. Time passed away, and my skills grew so rapidly. Then I applied to Y Fm –DENON Dj championship 2008, as an amateur.

During the championship, I was commented & advised by pioneer, well experienced & leading djs such as Tim, Ben, Ross, Tareeq, Dallas. In the finals, I was also assessed by DJ Razzaq, South Asian DENON ambassador. I won the 2nd place.

My Current Status:
Currently I am a fulltime Electrical undergraduate in BSc.Engineering at University of Moratuwa. Now I’m spending my 3rd academic year and will be graduated in 2010.
My new crew is Dark Knight Djz::::: Which is the hottest & the most talented set of djz’s combination on the web!!!!!
I hope that I’m the first qualified & skilled dj who hold an engineering degree. God has granted me the power to study & succeed and the power dj & entertain people & SUCEED too!!!!
Unfortunately, I have stopped party djing and I have started teaching djing. Im conducting a DJ Course and it is progressing very well. Many youngsters have joined with me to develop their skills & find out who they really are.
But I never quit from dj production. My latest production is the Dark Knight Hip Hop Party 2. (available on www.remix.lk) I would like to thank Dj Ranjan,Priyanka for helping me out. Same time I would like to take this as chance to thank all of you sent sms votes for me at Y Fm –DENON Dj championship 2008. And my good old buddy Isuru,I don’t know how to thank you man. You guys Dark Knights (Keen,Neon,Knight,Enzer) are my one & only family.
Finally would like to show gratitude to my family (specially Mom & Dad & grand ma).
My dream is to see a Sri Lankan DJ taking part in the DMC Championship, some day.
